Staff Engagement, Organisation & Performance

Creating a strategic plan for focusing your business it relatively easy - THE most essential step in making this happen is ensure that you have a focused team of people working in the business motivated and committed to delivering it.

This can only be achieved is by engaging and involving your staff in the process – this does not mean simply telling them that the company has a new strategy and expecting them to change the way they work to accommodate it, it means involving them in the process, listening to their ideas and opinions and then acting upon these when managing the changes that are required. In other words giving them ownership of the changes and allowing them to take responsibility for their role in the making it happen.

Once the team takes ownership of the objectives, targets and action plans, they then become accountable to themselves and to the business. Accountability enables individuals to self manage their own performance and for the business to support this through positive encouragement, recognition and reward.

Standards will be set by the team and over time, these will become self regulating, making it easier for the business to minimise the challenges created by underperforming teams or individuals.

Engaged employees are proactive and committed, take actions and make decisions that are consistent with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

The Staff Communications Day

Business Doctors have developed a unique approach to engaging staff with planning process, which involves the whole company in having their say in how the company should address the main challenges ahead.

This session (or sessions depending on staff numbers and operational logistics), are always a big hit with the staff, very motivational and always ends on a high!

We have a tried and tested formula for working with them in multi-disciplinary teams
to give us their ideas and input on a number of challenges facing the business.
These challenges usually relate to specific areas of the - improving operations and organisation, internal communication, business development and incentives and rewards.

From this, we have developed a very robust process for incorporating their input, communicating this back and facilitating the ongoing ownership and accountability from them during the strategy implementation.

“Just a short note to thank you for putting together a great event last Wednesday. The feedback from the staff has been positive, with comments like…
”I didn’t expect it to be like that - it wasn’t boring at all. At first I didn’t say anything, then I just couldn’t shut up!“
Well Done! We’re looking forward to the next stage”

"We’ve been working with Business Doctors utilising their experience to advise us with our strategic planning, formulation of our business plan and advice on methods of staff management. We have found them to be very thorough, taking the time to discuss the company and it's requirements with us and our staff and getting a clear idea of what our objectives for the sessions are. They have brought new methods of staff evaluation to our attention and given a wealth of advice, as a small company we have benefited from their objectiveness and experience regarding our organisational and management development. I would not hesitate to recommend them and their services to any other business".
