Royal approval for Shropshire Sweets

Prince Andrew gave the ultimate endorsement to Shropshire sweet firm Champion & Reeves during a recent visit, revealing that the treats it produces were enjoyed by the Royal family at Christmas.

The prince paid a visit to staff at Champion & Reeves, which is based at Shrewsbury’s Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre.

He spoke up for Shropshire, saying he loved visiting the county and that it needed to shout louder about its merits. “Your product was on the piano at the Sandringham at Christmas.”  

HRH was absolutely charming and engaged with staff and guests alike. Everyone commented on the interest that HRH took illustrated by the time he took and the depth of questions that he asked.

There were smiles all round and much laughter throughout the visit a with many happy memories made.

Champion & Reeves were recently awarded Shropshire Star finalist for their excellence in business awards 2017. Shropshire Star editor Martin Wright said: “The calibre of entries for this year’s awards was exceptional, and the winners really are there on merit.

“They also demonstrate the rich variety of businesses that exist in Shropshire, ranging from specialists in electrical engineering to businesses which are helping keep alive breeds of animals that are under threat of extinction.

Champion & Reeves engaged the services of Business Doctor Ian Follington when they found themselves so consumed with manufacturing their products leading up to Christmas they had not been focussing on the overall structure and direction of the business.
