Despite spending over 20 years in finance director roles with G4S and fair trade pioneer Traidcraft, Simon would still define himself as a business generalist.
"Having worked for overseas subsidiaries in Kenya and Indonesia, I always found myself taking on responsibility for much more than financial performance," he said.
"It's this wide ranging expertise that makes me such an asset to SME owners who are looking to move their business to the next level. I have a strong financial focus, but am experienced across the board."
Simon details amongst his internationally acquired skillset expertise in general management (including time as interim managing director of Securicor Kenya), HR, IT, supply chain management, company secretary, internal audit, property management, acquisitions & mergers and fleet management.
He is chartered accountant with an MBA from Manchester Business School.
"Working across both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors has shown me that charities, schools and other non-profit making organisations of all kinds need to operate more like businesses," he said.
"The same kind of strategic review, forward planning and reporting can also help them to grow and thrive in just the same way an SME can benefit"
